Hi,

I have tested using different versions of office from different machines and get the same issue. We have also changed the anonymous access - in case this was an issue. I get a little further when using Office 2003 - it opens the local copy of excel and allows the table to be selected - but hitting the import button fails with "unable to connect to server".

This indicates that there may be a permissions issue - however, there are no errors presented in logs that I have access to that give any detail.

Regards

Andy

Hi AndyW2007,

Have you tried to import the spreadsheet with a new workbook in excel 2010?

To narrow down this issue, please check the following steps:

Create a new excel workbook using excel 2010/2013, import it, whether it works.

If this works, then the issue should be the exported table, open the workbook in excel 2010, save it as a new file with office 2010 format.

Thanks,

Qiao

Hi Qiao,

We have tried creating new work books, importing to different sites and different versions of office. It appears that Excel is being denied permissions to create the appropriate list in SharePoint via the SOAP protocol (that excel uses to publish the data). We are unable to determine what the required permission is - all users are affected whether they are site collection admins, site owners or normal content creators.
